What is Headstart?
- Headstart is a federally funded center based preschool program for low-income children and their families. Children ages 3 to school age qualify for this program based on income, need, and age. Therapy is provided for children with Special Needs while in the classroom setting.
What Can Headstart Offer Your Family?
- Headstart offers you a sense of belonging, other support services, and a chance to be involved in activities to help your whole family. You can take part in training classes on many subjects, such as child rearing, job training, learning about health and nutrition, and using free resources in your own community. Some parents learn the English language; others learn to read. Headstart also offers assistance to parents interested in obtaining a high school General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or other adult education opportunities.
- Headstart is a free Preschool program for children who are 3 years old by no later than August 1st of each year. Transportation and meals are provided daily.
